Why isn t Stiorra in The Last Kingdom? ›

The powerfully sad moment that The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die can include is the death of Uhtred of Bebbanburg's daughter, Stiorra. In Cornwell's Saxon Stories, Stiorra dies before her husband, Sigtryggr, who was executed by Uhtred at the end of The Last Kingdom season 5.

Stiorra killed her mother out of revenge because of everything that went down before when Uhtred executed Sigtryggr.

She kills Father Father Aldwyn using her father's sword Wasp-Sting for having beaten her and torn her dress. She falls in love with Sigtryggr and later marries him. They have several children who sadly die of the plague. In "War of the Wolf", Stiorra is ultimately killed in battle by Skoll.

At the end of the series, the two are reunited at Bebbanburg. The same is true of Stiorra, Uhtred's oldest daughter. She was married to the Danish lord of Eoforwic (York), Sigtryggr.

One thing that happens to Stiorra in Bernard Cornwell's novels is that she falls pregnant with Sigtryggr's children.

Osbert is Uhtred's son on The Last Kingdom

At the time, Uhtred was so grief-stricken he could barely hold young Osbert, which incidentally is also Uhtred's original name. Plus he was dealing with a lot of stuff with King Alfred at the time, and soon fled Wessex after Alfred banished him.

Uhtred was summoned to a peace meeting with Cnut, and on the way there, he and forty of his men were murdered by Thurbrand the Hold at Wighill with the connivance of Cnut. Uhtred was succeeded in Bernicia by his brother Eadwulf Cudel.

When the Dane army was defeated at Tettenhall, Brida begged Uhtred to kill her before she could be dishonoured by being taken prisoner. Unable to bring himself to do it, Brida was imprisoned, abused and humiliated by the Welsh. Such treatment only deepened her prejudices.

Stiorra Reconciles With Uhtred

Overcome with anguish following the execution of her husband Sigtrygger, Stiorra shockingly killed Brida moments after Uhtred promised to forgive her instead of choosing vengeance.

He wanted Sigtryggr to be baptized. That was something Sigtryggr refused to do. He would not abandon his gods. That angered Edward, who ordered Sigtryggr's execution.

Tim, in Sword Song, chapter three, Uhtred tells that they have 2 children: Uhtred who is 4 years old and Stiorra that is 2 years old. In the same chapter Gisela tells Uhtred that she is pregnant (with Osbert and future Uthred).

When Uhtred suffers from an infected wound he received in a bout with Cnut, it's Eadith who mystically cures him using Cnut's blade. Eventually, Eadith and Uhtred marry, and when he retakes his ancestral fortress, she becomes the Lady of Bebbanburg.

Uhtred kills Sigtryggr in The Last Kingdom season 5. Sadly, Uhtred didn't get there in time. He tried to get Sigryggr to stop, but by this point, it was too late. Edward wanted them all executed.

Vibeke doesn't know what to do, but Brida reassures her she will catch her and the gods will protect her so trust them. She jumps towards her mother and almost jumps onto the roof but falls to the ground and dies.

Stiorra's mother is Gisela (Peri Baumeister), the second wife of Uhtred of Bebbanburg. Gisela was the sister of Guthred of Northumbria and the daughter of Danish warrior Jarl Harthacnut. Together, Gisela and Uhtred had three children: Uhtred, Stiorra and Osbert.
